Meet the Musicians

Jennie Dorris Jennie Dorris, percussion, has played music with the Boulder Philharmonic, Greeley Philharmonic, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, Colorado Music Festival, Denver Opera Company, Denver Municipal Band and Boulder Brass. She currently teaches at the Denver School for the Arts. She received her Master's in percussion performance from the University of Colorado-Boulder. She likes playing chamber music very much.

Megan Tipton Megan Tipton, violist and teacher of many, plays with the Greeley Philharmonic and the Boulder Philharmonic. She enjoys chamber music whenever she can and often finds herself engaged in musical performance outside the classical genre. Teaching is one of her passions and she conducts string ensembles at Vista Ridge Academy in Erie. Megan received her Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Southern Methodist University and her Master of Music in Viola Performance at the University of Colorado-Boulder.

Nick Vocatura Nick Vocatura, clarinet, received a Bachelor of Music in clarinet performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He has performed with the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra, Colorado Mahlerfestival Orchestra, and the Boulder Dinner Theater. He is currently performing with Barbelfish, an Eastern European folk band.

Michelle Davis Michelle Davis, violin, has played in the Boulder Philharmonic, the Fort Collins Symphony and the Cheyenne Symphony. She has participated in the Tanglewood Music Festival, the National Repertory Orchestra and the Strings in the Mountains Festival in Steamboat Springs. Michelle received Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Michigan and a Pedagogy Certificate from Denver University. She maintains a private teaching studio and enjoys playing chamber music as much as possible.

Anthony McFarlane Anthony McFarlane, composer, is currently the adjunct professor of trombone at Florida International University with a D.M.A ABD from the University of Miami, Masters in Music from the University of Miami and a Bachelor's in Music from Florida State University. He has played with the London Symphony Orchestra, Macau Orchestra of China, Symphony of the Americas, Boca Philharmonic, New Philharmonic, and Florida State University Jazz Quintet. He has also performed with musicians such as Franky Valley, Marie Osmond, Bebe Neuwirth, Bobby Vinton, Michael W. Smith, Bernadete Peters, Denis Deyoung, of Styxx, and the Craig Turley Orchestra. He has an active freelance career that takes him around the country.

Scott Higgins Scott Higgins is active freelance percussionist, teacher and composer in Denver, Colorado. He plays with the Colorado Symphony, Opera Colorado, a member of Colorado Ballet's orchestra and Principal Percussionist with the Central City Opera. Before moving to Denver, to join his wife Susan, a double-bassist with the Colorado Symphony, he was with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra as section and acting principal percussionist from 1994-1999. Scott studied with Alan Abel at Temple University and Jim Atwood at Loyola University in New Orleans. He has also done seven years of Drum & Bugle Corps, the last two years being with the Madison Scouts. When not practicing, Scott enjoys gourmet cooking, British cars, martial arts and his various Apple computers.
