About Us

Welcome to Telling Stories. We're a troupe of professional musicians and writers in Colorado looking to attract a new and younger audience to classical music and literature.

We're doing a few things to make this happen. First, we're leaving the stuffy concert hall far behind – we present monthly live shows in the casual atmosphere of a coffee shop stage. Our shows feature classical chamber music and first-person essays. Each show has a theme which relates to the music and writing; upcoming themes for our fall season include "Taking it personally" and "Rockstars," the latter of which will include all rock transcriptions. Our spring season will feature "Interruptions" and "Loneliness," which will spotlight all musical solos.

The '07 -'08 season marks our second full season of concerts; we launched our successful first season in December of 2006.

As well as featuring all-original essays from our writers, we're also passionate about commissioning new works from composers – in our first season we premiered three new chamber works and featured 15 David Sedaris-like original essays.

We are also debuting a Telling Stories educational program at the Denver School for the Arts, Denver's only comprehensive secondary arts magnet school, where we are simultaneously working with students from the creative writing and music departments to create their own Telling Stories concert.

Telling Stories is looking to create a vibrant and genuine relationship with its audience. We partner with friends and like-minded businesses in our membership and sponsorship programs, which offer individuals and businesses a chance to attend exclusive concerts, enjoy the tasty rewards of our food and beverage sponsors, and have access to the timeless essays of our Telling Stories writers. We hope you'll join us.
